USCIS Completes FY 2026 H-1B Lottery Selection Process

On March 31, 2025, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it has completed the initial selection process for the fiscal year (FY) 2026 H-1B cap. The agency received enough electronic registrations for unique beneficiaries to meet both the standard H-1B cap and the advanced degree exemption (master’s cap).

Selection Notifications Issued

USCIS has issued notifications to all registrants with selected beneficiaries. Those selected are now eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition on behalf of their beneficiary during the designated filing period.

What Employers Need to Know

Employers with selected registrations must file the H-1B petition:

• At the correct USCIS filing location or online via my.uscis.gov
• Within the filing window stated on the selection notice

Each petition must include:

• A copy of the FY 2026 H-1B registration selection notice
• A copy of the beneficiary’s valid passport or travel document that was used during registration

Proper filing is essential to avoid rejections or delays.
