On January 20, 2021, President Biden, by executive order, ended the “Muslim ban.” This ban, which was one of his predecessor’s earliest actions to limit immigration, blocked travel to the United States from several countries that are predominantly Muslim and African. The executive order directs the State Department to restart visa processing for individuals from the countries that were previously banned and to develop ways to address the harm caused to individuals that were prevented from coming to the United States because of the ban.
