Construction of Trump’s border wall with Mexico has been halted by President Biden. An executive order signed by President Biden on January 20, 2021 calls for immediate termination of the national emergency declaration that enabled Trump to redirect billions of dollars to the wall. Moving forward the Biden administration intends to do a close review to determine whether it is even legal to divert federal money to fund the wall. Additionally, the order directs government officials to pause work on construction and develop plans to redirect funds and repurpose contracts.
