Twenty-six New York City business owners have been indicted for their involvement in a criminal scheme that smuggled Chinese immigrants into the U.S. to work at restaurants and other establishments.
According to yesterday’s indictments, six of the defendants smuggled immigrants form China to the United States from April through October. Eighteen of the defendants allegedly harbored undocumented immigrants for the purpose of commercial advantage or financial gain.

The defendants will appear in Manhattan federal court.
