On March 22, 2025, President Donald Trump issued a memorandum directing Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to take action against attorneys and law firms that, in the administration’s view, engage in frivolous or vexatious litigation against the federal government. The memo specifically targets immigration lawyers, accusing them of fueling “rampant fraud and meritless claims” within the immigration system and instructs the Department of Justice to seek sanctions against such attorneys for professional misconduct.
At Joseph & Hall, P.C., we view this memorandum as a direct assault on the legal profession and an attempt to intimidate those who advocate for the rights of immigrants. The administration’s actions, including efforts to strip birthright citizenship and the deportation of individuals into torture prisons in El Salvador, are not only cruel but also legally baseless. For the administration to accuse lawyers challenging its policies of fraud and meritless claims is nothing more than blatant projection.
We stand in solidarity with our colleagues in the immigration bar and will not be deterred by these politically motivated attacks. Our dedication to upholding the rule of law and defending the rights of immigrants remains unwavering. We will continue to fight for justice, advocate for our clients, and hold the government accountable for its actions.
