DHS Focus on Enforcement of Employers of Undocumented Workers Continues

The Department of Homeland Security seems to be making good on its promise to seek out and prosecute employers who employ undocumented workers.

On September 14, 2010, ICE arrested a manager of a personnel agency in Bell, California based on the allegation that he had hired unlawful workers and then provided them with counterfeit documents.

Yesterday, ICE arrested the owner and the top executive of a metal casting company in San Jose, California.  ICE accuses these men of knowingly keeping undocumented workers on the payroll after they had been put on notice that the workers’ documents were not legitimate.  The men face federal charges which could land each of them in jail for up to six months.

A news release put out by ICE quoted the special agent in charge of the Los Angeles investigation as stating, “As these cases make clear, we intend to hold employers who knowingly hire an illegal workforce accountable for their actions.”
