On August 26, 2024, a federal court in the Easter District of Texas issued an administrative stay, ordering USCIS not to grant further applications for Parole in Place under the Keeping Families Together program for at least 14 days. While the program is currently frozen for 14 days, the court noted that it “expects that good cause may exist to extend this administrative stay for additional periods through mid-October.”
The court order does not prevent applicants from filing parole in place applications and USCIS has already announced that it will continue to accept applications during the administrative stay.
Only after further proceedings in court will it be decided whether applications can continue to be granted in the future.
We will continue to monitor developments in court.
As long as USCIS is accepting applications, Joseph & Hall will continue to file them for clients who want to try to benefit from the program but understand that approvals are on hold.
For questions about how this affects case strategy, Joseph & Hall clients should contact their attorney. If you or a loved one would like to discuss the parole in place program or whether it may benefit you, please schedule a consultation.
