USCIS Will Start Requiring Signatures and Identification to Receive Certain Documents

In April, USCIS announced the agency will start mailing permanent resident cards, employment authorization documents, and travel booklets using a secure delivery service through the U.S. Postal Service.  The agency will begin using the service to mail these items to applicants who have changed their address while their application is pending or whose documents have been returned to USCIS as undeliverable.  USCIS will then roll out the new process for all other applicants.

Applicants will have to present identification and sign for these items upon delivery. Applicants may also authorize others to receive documents on their behalf using a USPS form, PS Form 3801, Standing Delivery Order.  Accounts can be created online at USCIS.gov or USPS.com to track the delivery of these documents.

Clients of Joseph & Hall P.C., P.C. who will be filing applications in the future will be able to choose between having the documents mailed to them at home or at the firm’s address.

Effective March 25, 2020, in response to “Stay at Home” orders Joseph & Hall PC is closed to the public and is now conducting nearly all of its operations remotely during the COVID-19 health crisis through April 18th.

We continue to have a limited number of staff in our office to perform basic operations such as assembling and filing petitions, receiving and distributing mail and issuing checks. We are grateful to be in a business that is conducive to remote work and for all of your patience and support.  Our lawyers and paralegals are here to answer the array of questions that continue to arise daily and will keep you informed during these rapidly changing times.  We will hold telephonic or video meetings rather than in-person meetings.  These meetings can be done by SKYPE or Zoom Conference call so that you can continue to interact with your legal team, face-to-face.
