Immigrant Action Orlando Launched After Tragic Mass Shooting

In the focus on terrorism and the political ramifications of the recent mass shooting in Orlando on June 12, 2016, a very important story has been glossed over by the mass media. The shooting happened at Pulse nightclub on Latino night. Among the people who frequent the club are many immigrants- both documented and undocumented. There is a huge need for immigration legal counsel for the victims and their families.

In response to this need, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Central Florida chapter and Immigration Equality teamed up to create Immigrant Action Orlando. This is a non-profit network of immigration attorneys who are available to provide free legal help to survivors and family members of the shooting at the Pulse night club. Here is the contact information for those who are interested in getting involved in this great cause:

Many victims and their family members will qualify for a U-visa, which is a special visa for victims of qualifying crimes that occurred in the United States. Among the qualifying crimes is felonious assault, murder, and attempted murder, all of which happened that tragic night at Pulse. If you have been the victim of any crime in the United States, please tell us about it. You may qualify for a U-visa and there are derivative benefits available for certain family members.
